Biografia de Afi
¿Quién es AFI? - AFI, cuyas siglas significan A Fire Inside (Un fuego adentro) es una banda de rock alternativo formada oficialmente en Ukiah, California, Estados Unidos, en el año 1991. Está integrada por Davey Havok (voz), Jade Puget (guitarra), Hunter Burgan (bajo) y Adam Carson (batería). - - - Inicios de AFI en la Música - El inicio de AFI remonta al año 1990, cuando Davey Havok, Mark Stopholese, Adam Carson y Vic Chalker estudiaban en la preparatoria en Ukiah, y decidieron conformar una banda de música alternativa. Aunque no contaban con baterista ni tenían experiencia tocando instrumentos, se propusieron aprender. Adan Carson (Baterista) pronto se unió al equipo. En 1993 lanzaron el EP “Dork”, el cual produjeron en conjunto con el desaparecido grupo Loose Change. - - La agrupación se desintegró cuando los jóvenes se marcharon a distintas universidades. Más adelante acordaron abandonar los estudios para dedicarse por completo a su proyecto musical. Originalmente tocaban temas con ritmos del hardcore punk, influenciados por bandas como The Misfits o Dead Kennedys; a propósito del éxito que tenía ese género en California. - - - Trayectoria y Legado de AFI - El 1 de agosto de 1995 lanzaron su álbum debut: “Answer that and stay fashionable”, patrocinado por el sello Wingnut. Un año más tarde Dexter Holland (vocalista de The Offspring) fichó a la banda en su sello Nitro Records. Luego publicaron su segundo álbum de estudio: “Very proud of ya”. - - En 1997 el integrante guitarrista, bajistas y productor Geoff Kresge desertó la banda después de su participación de 1992 a 1997 y fue sustituido por Hunter Burgan en el bajo. El 11 de noviembre de ese mismo año salió al mercado su tercera producción discográfica: “Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes”. Esta obra fue la punta de lanza para la migración de la banda hacia el género horror punk. En este periodo, Nitro Records relanzó “Answer that and stay fashionable”, dado que la edición de Wignut había quedado fuera del mercado. - - Luego en 1998 bajo el aval de Adeline Records lanzaron el EP “A fire inside” y acto seguido expulsaron a Stopholese de la agrupación, sin ofrecer mayores detalles al respecto. Inmediatamente fue reemplazado por Jade Puget (guitarrista). - - Con ritmos más agresivos sacaron a la venta el disco “Black sails in the sunset” en el año 1999. Este mismo año también publicaron el EP “All hallow's”. Mientras que en el año 2000 Nitro Records publicó el quinto álbum de estudio de la banda: “The art of drowning”, el cual incluye los éxitos “The Days of the Phoenix” y “Totalimmortal”. - - Su sexto álbum de estudio titulado “Sing the sorrow”, salió a la venta el 11 de marzo del 2003, patrocinado por el sello DreamWorks Records. Esta obra fue producida por el famoso Butch Vig (productor de Nirvana) y mezclada por Jerry Finn (productor de Blink 182). Incluye los sencillos: "Girl's not grey", "Silver and cold" y "The leaving song, Pt. II". Cabe destacar que este álbum alcanzó el puesto número cinco del Billboard 200 estadounidense. - - Luego comenzaron a desarrollar un sonido más electrónico en su álbum “Decemberunderground”, lanzado en junio de 2006. El éxito de las canciones “Miss murder”, “Love like winter”, “The missing frame” y “Summer shudder” le confirieron un disco de platino certificado por la RIAA y un disco de oro acreditado por la Aria. - - La banda siguió cosechando éxitos con las producciones discográficas: “Crash Love” (2009) y “Burials” (2013). Bajo el sello Concord Music Group, dieron a conocer su décimo álbum titulado “AFI” o también conocido como “The blood álbum”. El disco lanzado el 20 de enero de 2017 incluye 14 temas, donde destacan: “Dark snow”, “Still a stranger”, “Aurelia”.
