Biografia de Simply Red
¿Quién es Simply Red? - Simply Red, fue un grupo musical británico de soul y pop. - - Fue formado en 1984 por el cantante Mick ‘Red’ Hucknall (nacido Michael James Hucknall el 8 de junio de 1960 en Manchester), quien contó para ello con tres ex-miembros del grupo Durutti Column: Tony Bowers (n. 31 de octubre de 1952) al bajo, Chris Joyce (n. en Manchester el 11 de octubre de 1957) a la batería y Tim Kellett (n. en Knaresborough el 23 de julio de 1964) al teclado; además de Sylvan Richardson (guitarra) y Fritz McIntyre (n. en Birmingham el 2 de septiembre de 1956) al teclado. - - El grupo firmó con Elektra Records y realizó Picture Book (octubre de 1985), que contenía los temas «Money’s Too Tight (To Mention)» y «Holding Back the Years», que fueron grandísimos éxitos, convirtiendo al grupo en uno de los protagonistas del año musical en 1986. - - Men and Women (marzo de 1987), que contenía dos colaboraciones entre Hucknall y el letrista de soul Lamont Dozier, fue menos exitoso, aunque generó temas muy populares como «The Right Thing», «Infidelity» y «Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye». - - Richardson abandonó el grupo en 1987 y fue reemplazado por el guitarrista Aziz Ibrahim, quien a su vez fue reemplazado por el brasileño Heitor T.P. - - El tercer album, A New Flame (febrero de 1989), fue disco de oro gracias a la versión del tema de 1972 de Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes «If You Don’t Know Me By Now»; también fueron éxitos temas como «It’s Only Love» y «A New Flame». - - Tras el cuarto disco, Stars (septiembre de 1991), Bowers y Joyce abandonaron la banda, y se unieron a ella Shaun Ward en el bajo y Gota Yashiki en la batería, además del saxofonista Ian Kirkham. El disco fue un relativo fracaso en Estados Unidos («Something Got Me Started» y «Stars» fueron, no obstante, temas exitosos) pero un grandísimo éxito en el Reino Unido, donde fue el disco más vendido de 1991. Vendió en todo el mundo casi 8 millones y medio de copias. - - Ward y Gota se marcharon al ir a realizar el quinto álbum, Life (octubre de 1995), incorporándose, en cambio, la cantante Dee Johnson. - - Blue apareció en 1998 y un año después lo hizo Love and the Russian Winter. - - Tras crear su propio sello discográfico, simplyred.com, editaron Home en 2003, con éxitos como «Sunrise», «Fake» (con un popular videoclip), «You Make Me Feel Brand New» y, por último, «Home», cuyo videoclip fue grabado en Málaga. - - Dos años después, la banda produjo Simplified, una colección de viejos y nuevos temas, del que se extrajo un sencillo nuevo «Perfect Love» y otro renovado «Something Got Me Started» y se lanzó el Dvd «CUBA!» - - El 25 de Septiembre de 2006 se lanzó a la venta el sencillo «Oh! What A Girl!» un nuevo éxito, y que cierra el ciclo del DVD Cuba! grabado en el Teatro más importante de La Habana. - - El próximo disco de Simply Red se publicará el 12 de Marzo de 2007, llevará por título STAY y del cual el primer sencillo extraído es «So Not Over You» que ya ha comenzado a ser radiado en todo el mundo. El sencillo saldrá a la venta el 5 de Marzo de este mismo año en el Reino Unido. - - En España el disco STAY salio el dia 15 de Mayo de 2007 con nuevo single homónimo. - - Recientemente, el pasado 18 de Junio, Mick Hucknall fue padre de una niña llamada Romy True Hucknall nacida en Londres. - - La banda se disuelve a fines de 2010 en un concierto en la ciudad de Londres, que puso un broche de oro a una carrera de 25 años durante los cuales vendió más de 50 millones de discos. -; Ver BiograFia Completa
