Biografia de Inxs
¿Quién es Inxs? - Inxs surgió en Australia, cuando los tres hermanos Farriss, Tim, Andrew y Jon, se unieron ara crear una banda. A este proyecto se les uniría Michael Hutchence como cantante, Kirk Pengilly en el saxofón y Garry Beers en el bajo. De esta manera quedaba configurado el grupo, aunque por aquel entonces comenzó llamándose The Farriss Brothers. - - En 1978 la banda atraviesa Australia hasta la ciudad de Perth, donde el grupo pasa varios meses escribiendo y componiendo temas, además de ofrecer conciertos en hoteles y locales pequeños. - - Tras regresar a Sydney un año después, los The Farriss Brothers cambian su nombre por el de Inxs. Su primer concierto con ese nombre fue en el "Oceanview Hotel", en Toukley, y un año después publican sus dos primeros sencillos: "Simple Simon" y "We are the vegetables". - - En octubre de ese mismo año los Inxs publican su primer álbum, titulado "INXS", cuyo primer sencillo fue "Just Keep Walking". Debido al gran éxito cosechado por su disco, realizan una gira por toda la costa australiana, visitando las ciudades más importantes y ofreciendo gran cantidad de conciertos. - - En 1981 realizan varias giras por todo el país, con más de 300 conciertos y a finales de año publican su segundo álbum, "Underneath the colours", con el que se colocan entre lso primeros puestos de las listas de éxitos. - - En 1982 los Inxs inician una nueva gira que les lleva a Nueva Zelanda. También ofrecen sus rimeros conciertos en Inglaterra y América, donde comienzan a dar a conocer su música. En octubre de ese año publican el tercer álbum, "Shabooh Shoobah". Inxs consigue un disco de oro y se cuela entre los cinco primeros en las listas australianas. - - En 1983 hacen su debut en Estados Unidos con su tema "The one thing". La MTV emite en su programación el video de esta canción, que consigue llegar al puesto número 30 en ese país. Inxs comienza a aparecer en la prensa especializada en música y sus temas son escuchados ahora en muchas emisoras de radio. Ese año los Inxs se dedican practicamente en exclusiva a promocionarse en Estados Unidos, con conciertos, grabaciones, entrevistas y cualquier cosa que les valga para darse a conocer. A pesar de su intensa actividad, Inxs comienza a finales de año la grabación de su cuarto trabajo, que llevaría por título "The Swing". Al año siguiente Inxs inicia una gira mundial. Su tema "Original" llega a ser número uno en gran cantidad de países. - - En 1985 Inxs publica su quinto álbum, "Listen like thieves", que fue seguido por una gira por Sudamérica. Un año después, Inxs se toma un pequeño descanso, que los miembros de la banda aprovechan para dedicarse a sus proyectos en solitario. - - Tras nuevas giras por todo el mundo, los Inxs vuelven a encerrarse en un estudio de grabación para alumbrar el nacimiento de "Kick", el sexto álbum del grupo australiano. En apenas unas semanas, el álbum alcanza un tremendo éxito de ventas, llegando a conseguir cuatro discos de platino en Inglaterra. En tema "Need you tonight" se convierte en su primer número uno en Estados Unidos. Con el video "Need you tonight/Mediate" los Inxs ganan 5 premios en los premios MTV. - - En enero de 1989 Inxs obtiene una nominación a los Grammy, como mejor actuación de un grupo de rock. Nuevamente, tras tanto trajín a sus espaldas, Inxs se da unas merecidas vacaciones para que los miembros de la banda hagan lo que más les apetezca. Unos terminan sus proyectos, algunos hacen sus pequeñas incursiones en el cine y otros, simplemente, se dedican a descansar. - - En agosto de 1990 se publica el sencillo "Suicide blonde", primer tema del nuevo álbum de Inxs, "X". En 1991 actúan en el concierto Rock in Río, en Brasil, ante más de 100.000 personas. - - En 1992, Inxs publica "Welcome to Wherever You Are", seguido poco después por "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts", en el que cantaban con Ray Charles y Chrissie Hynde, además de introducir toques de guitarra. - - En 1997 Inxs publica un nuevo álbum, titulado "Elegantly Wasted", con un gran éxito. Pero la noticia que sacudió al grupo ese año fue la muerte de Michael Hutchence, quien apareció ahorcado en un hotel de Sydney, en lo parece ser un suicidio, pocos días antes de que la banda cumpliera su vigésimo aniversario. - - A pesar de la muerte de Michael, Inxs decidió seguir adelante, para lo que contrataron en el año 2000 a Jon Stevens como su nuevo cantante. -; Ver BiograFia Completa
